Josh Whedon & Avengers 2 OFFICIALLY HAPPENING.

Just announced on the Walt Disney Investors Conference Call that Avengers helmer Joss Whedon will return for the sequel. Whedon is has contractually signed on to write and direct the upcoming film.

Whedon has previously stated that he was quote “very torn” about coming back:

It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it. But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool.

“The Avengers 2” is a long way off — it currently is without a release date, and looking at the workload to do this properly, we’re looking at a summer 2015 release–MAYBE.  But proper foundation is being laid to build a great infrastructure we will refer to as Avengers 2 with Josh Whedon as the architect!
