Mark Hunt: Twitter Bomb Campaign.

For those of you who have wondered to yourselves,” how do I parlay this Twitter account into a title shot?” No worries,Mark Hunt fans have showed us how. Due to the resent upset over the Overeem testosterone test (that came back at 14:1, out of a legal 6:1), the UFC has had to entertain other possible matchups for the Junior Dos Santos’ heavyweight title match. This has culminated into an opportunity for what I believe has been one of the most solid flash Twitter campaigns in MMA to date.

The fans want Mark Hunt to fight Dos Santos, plain and simple. Mark Hunt is a veteran who has seen it all, a native of Sydney, Australia, 5’10” 265 lb heavyweight– no wonder he dawns the name ‘Super Samoan’. The Super Samoan is now riding the wave of a campaign that could very well put him into the biggest fight of his career to date. The fans have gone so far that they have even caught the attention of Joe Rogan himself. He was quoted saying ” there are some wise people on this board, I support this movement. Stylistically, this could be the most exciting matchup.” He also went so far as to say that even if the fight didn’t happen, he would still like to see the matchup in the future. Mark Hunt has wins against such notables as Chieck Kongo, and has fought in other famous organizations such as Pride and Dream. Even though Mark now boasts a record of (8-7-0), but its more so his willingness to take fights to the limit with heavy hands, and a strong chin that makes him a favorite among fight fans. His next fight was scheduled to go down the night of the title fightagainst top contender Stefan ” Skyscraper” Struve.

President Dana White is really caught between a rock and a hard place with this conundrum, but when Twitter fans are rallying behind underdogs with the tenacity of an Obama campaign, matchmaking may be a no-brainer come fight night. Mark Hunt was flattered, but said ” yea, I don’t think I’ll be getting that call”. Either way, fight fans are using technology to take matters into their own hands, and they are being being heard. As for the matchup, we’ll just have to wait, but I don’t think I speak for myself only when I say its ‘damn good’ to see this kind of fire in fans to get their hero to the top!
