Greek Olympiad Expelled for Racist Tweets.

Today, a Greek triple jumper was kicked off of her Olympic team over comments on Twitter making mockery of African immigrants in Greece. The Hellenic Olympic Committee said Voula Papachristou was dropped from the team ‘for statements contrary to the values and ideas of the Olympic movement.’ A the time, Papachristou, who was in Athens, was scheduled to leave for London, but has now been excluded from travel. On Monday, she tweeted:

‘With so many Africans in Greece…At least the West Nile mosquitos will eat home made food!!!’

This is a reference to an outbreak of the West Nile virus, a potentially fatal disease transmitted by mosquitos of African origin, in Athens this summer.
