The World Series of Poker implemented a ONE MILLION DOLLAR buy-in, making it the largest buy-in in the series history. With this massive buy-in, it will generate a record setting cash prize of 12.3 million dollars. The three-day event will air on ESPN, and the winner will also be awarded a custom designed platinum bracelet.
30 players have signed up thus far, and of the thirty–it’s definitely a mixed bag, to say the least. The field is a comprised of high-stakes poker sharks, known for their skills and wealthy businessmen, hoping for ‘Lady Luck’ to be with them. Thus far, only 10 registered are professional poker players. The World Series organizers expect to reach their cap of 48 entries.
“If the cap on participants is reached, the first-place prize awarded to the winner would be more than $18 million,” series spokesman Seth Palansky said.
An 11% cut of the $1 million buy-in goes to a single charity–ONE DROP to be specific, which is an organization that helps poor countries gain access to clean water.
