Tumblr Up For A Billion Dollar Acquisition By Yahoo – TECH NEWS.

tublr iconYahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and other wig heads are meeting today on whether or not to shell out a billion dollars for micro blogging site Tumblr. The site which is one of the coolest ways to see rare photos of your favorite artist, funny memes, and porn clips all within the same feed has the eyes of demographic of the 18-to-24 year-old-set, precisely the Yahoo team needs to turn around a multi year slump. It seems that the deal is timid as Tumblr founder David Karp still retains the rights to reject the offer as he is currently in the venture capital raising rounds valuing the company at $800 million.

Fans of the site are up in arms of the news that it may be acquired by the antiquated site search engine Yahoo, with Tumblr being seen as the cool kid in high school who drives the yellow convertible. People have gone so far as to start petitions in an aim to stop the deal, but at the end of the day it’s going to come down for what’s best for TUMBLR as a site and brand. It’s been stated that the sites page views has been on a steady downward spiral for the past 6 months. A lot is to be considered in the coming days on this behemoth of an acquisition  if it is purchased though, first thing Yahoo is going to do is break the site down to make money and integrate ways to advertise to the young audience Tumblr has managed to obtain.

We’ll keep you posted as more details roll out in the coming days.
