Rumblings have been a brewing, ever since critics ripped Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River” at Cannes Film Festival in 2014.  The actor turned director spoke on how “Drive” director Nicholas Winding Refn inspired him, and you can visually see the parallels in their work. Whether it be the ambient score, or visually striking images. “Lost River” is a film, set against the backdrop of a fading city.

The story centers on Billy (Christina Hendricks of “Mad Men”), who is immersed in a dangerous mystery after her teenage son Bones finds a secret road that leads to an underwater town.

Rest of the cast includes Ben Mendelsohn, Eva Mendes and Saoirse Ronan, and with a very intriguing trailer now unveiled, “Lost River” appears worth a look, and may fare better in wider release.
