It’s shaping up to be a great year for Atlanta’s Rich Homie Quan, who had the smash of the summer with the infectious ‘Type of Way’ which parlayed into countless features and hooks. You know the mechanics of hip hop, when you’re hot YOU’RE FISH GREASE and everyone wants a piece of your signature sound. RHQ spoke with Billboard to talk the release of his new effort, the DJ Drama hosted mixtape ‘I Promise I Will Never Stop Goin’ In.’

“I hadn’t dropped a mixtape in a year, so I wanted to drop something that the people would feel good about,” Quan says, trailing off, then quips, “Just before Thanksgiving? I want them to be sitting down, eating good, listening to Rich Homie Quan.

The wildest part about the RHQ hype train is how he’s still independent and hasn’t signed with a major.

“I’m still independent,” he insists. “When we find the deal we want to make sure that it’s the best deal for me. And that it’ll bring longevity. Something that’ll last for a minute. I haven’t found it yet I’m still looking for it. Something that’ll take me to the next level.”
