NYPD’s Finest At It –AGAIN!

An NYPD officer, was arrested, booked and indicted for allegedly breaking into fellow officers lockers and  stealing their guns, a bullet-resistant vests, and an iPad, the New York Post reported Friday. Officer Nicholas Mina was allegedly addicted to painkillers, Oxycodone in particular, and stole the guns out of police lockers to pay for his habit, prosecutors say. According to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Christopher Prevost, “The officer developed the Oxycodone habit and became a “daily customer”,” eventually owing his dealer so much more money that he turned to stealing guns, and also re-selling drugs he bought. Mina was arrested Thursday night and confessed, and his suspected dealer, Ivan Chavez, 24, and three others were being held also. According to the indictment, Mina stole four guns, including Glock and Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistols from his colleagues, and also hawked his own gun that was not registered with the NYPD. According to the DA’s office, the weapons were sold to Chavez or funneled onto the black market through others involved.
