To say that the Korean Zombie’s win tonight over Dustin Poirier was an “UPSET”, is a massive understatement. It seemed going into the fight, that Poirier was that NEXT DUDE that was being groomed for the belt. Everyone was looking on their schedule trying to pinpoint when the current champ Jose Aldo VS. Dustin Poirier throwdown would take place. I’ll be the first to say, I’ve seen the Korean Zombie fight twice, and I had totally underrated his talents going into the fight. I, along with everyone else, drank some of the “Poirier Kool-AID”.
TONIGHT, oh,my goodness,TONIGHT! I saw one of the best match-ups that I had seen in awhile– the Korean Zombie beat the BREAKS off Poirier. Chan Sung Jung AKA MR. Zombie imposed his power on Dustin. No one, and I mean no one, had ever seen the Korean Zombie we saw tonight, his style and ability to connect moves and transitions was absolutely seamless. The Zombie had moments of worry, but pushed through them all to win via D’Arce choke, letting Mr Poirier fall fast asleep right in his arms. (Korean Zombie, you’re such a gentleman.)
What’s next for the Korean Zombie you ask? Well, with that display of skills tonight, he’s the only fighter with a hair of a chance for Brazil’s dominating champion Jose’ Aldo. They both have something to fight for– their respective country’s honor. I can’t wait to see the match up!
