The long and brewing match between Jon”Bones” Jones and his ex-training partner Rashad “Suga” Evans, was yet another display of sheer dominance, by the young “phenom”. Jon Jones retained his championship belt tonight by fending off his biggest threat since attaining the title, Rashad Evans. Jones delivered fatal elbows, and punishing head kicks for five rounds, landing him a “unanimous” decision win. One judge scored it 50-45 giving every round to the defending champ, while the other two scored it 49-46. In the post fight interview with Joe Rogan, Jon had this to say about his flawless victory.
“Definitely my most satisfying victory…I just didn’t want to make any mistakes.”
Jones went the distance with Rashad, and that is the first time that has occurred since attaining the belt. The last 10 seconds of the fifth round, Jones “pulled guard” on Evans giving Evans a standing advantage while he was on his back. It was a very “playful” move that could potentially have cost him, had “Suga” had more time on his hands.
With this victory, it has been confirmed that Jones will defend his title against Dan Henderson next . With Dan getting the upcoming title shot, it’s back to the drawing board for Jones, but pat yourself on the back BONES, you’re clearing out the division in a record fashion.
