Fruitvale Wins Sundance Grand Jury!

Fruitvale,” a drama based on  based on the murder of 22-year old Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), took home the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday night. The movie also won the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film, and is the directorial debut of USC filmmaker Ryan Coogler. The film was entitled Fruitvale it was the named after the train stop Oscar Grant who was murdered while being handcuffed by police officers. The Weinstein Company acquired distribution rights to the film and it co-stars Tristan Wilds and Melonie Diaz, with Forest Whitaker producing.
