Most people tend to leave their images on their iPhone, or upload them to Instagram or Facebook, platforms that keep control of their data. And what most people don’t know is that they could be making cold hard CASH converting those snapshots with the help of a new app by the Swedish startup Foap. The main focus of Foap is to become “the world’s largest marketplace for smartphone photos” while providing an avenue for amateur photographers to get paid to plod their pics and make them available for reuse. Photographers choose which pictures to upload, tag them to make the easier to find, and decide whether they want their photos to be used commercially or editorially. If you want to purchase an image from Foap to use, it costs $10 a pop. $5 goes to the photographer and the rest keeps the company afloat. The iPhone is currently available in App Store. The Android app is still on its way.
