“Is there a doctor in the house?”. If anyone asks, Shaquille O’Neal can now raise his hand, because on Saturday afternoon, the former NBA phenom, became Dr. O’Neal. He received his Doctorate in Education from Barry University in Florida. O’Neal finished his bachelor’s degree in 2000 after leaving college one year early for the NBA. One year later, he received his MBA.
For 4 1/2 years, the former Miami Heat center took 16 courses, completed 54 credit hours and carried a 3.813, according to the university. The 40-year-old’s exact degree is in Organizational Learning and Leadership, with a specialization in human resource development. “He was a good student,”, said Dr. David M. Koop, chairman of the university’s Organizational Leadership program. “He is very intellectually curious. He is like a sponge, he takes everything in.”
FYI: O’Neal now requests that only children may call him Shaq… adults must now address him as “Dr. O’Neal”, only.
