Delmon Young partied a bit too much last night, and now he is probably regretting that. Young was arrested earlier this morning, accused of allegedly scuffling with a panhandler outside of the Hilton New York at around 1:30 am, and screaming anti-Semitic remarks. NYPD stated Young was “highly intoxicated,” when he allegedly got into a confrontation with a group of Chicago tourists after the panhandler (who was wearing a yarmulke) asked them for money, Young supposedly started shouting, “F**king Jews! F**king Jews!, according to the New York Post.
There seems to be some confusion who Young was referring to, as he also got into a scuffle with the Chicago group. NYPD officers arrested the Detroit Tigers outfielder on a charge of aggravated harassment, with a possibility of a hate crime charge being added. Young was then taken to the hospital because of intoxication. Additionally, one of the Chicago group was treated by paramedics at the scene due to scratches he allegedly got from the purported scuffle with Young. After Young sobered up at the hospital, he was then taken to Midtown North Precinct and booked.
