Connecticut Trooper Steals from Crash Victim

Connecticut State Trooper Aaron Huntsman has been arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny. Huntsman, arrested on Thursday, is accused of stealing over $3,000 of jewelry and money from a man who was killed in a motorcycle accident, the Associated Press reports. Huntsman, 43, and an 18-year veteran of the police department, has also been accused of interfering or tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Motorcyclist John Scalesse, 49, was killed in a motorcycle accident, when his valuables were returned to his family, clothes, jewelry and money were missing. After the family made a police reporting the loss, the department investigated and the clothes were located, but the money and jewelry were not. Another investigation revealed that Huntsman had not logged the jewelry or cash into evidence. Huntsman’s police cruiser was searched, and a large amount of money was recovered.
