Adrien Broner RETAINS WBC Title With KO of Gavin Rees

WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner successfully retained his title against Wales import Gavin Rees, Saturday night in Atlantic City. Rees (37-2-1, 19 KOs) was a serious underdog being a listed as a 1 in 40 chance at winning on some gambling sites, with Broner (26-0, 22 KOs) being the strong favorite. The fight which ended via fifth round TKO, Broner who scored two knock-down in the bout and ended the fight with a powerful left hook to the body that forced Rees to take a knee in the fifth. Always good for a great quote Broner spoke on his opponent Rees, who gave him hell in the opening two rounds which Rees won stating: 

“I had to see how much gas was left in that Toyota. I don’t care what they put in front of me, I’ll fight him,’’ Broner said. “He kept coming through every shot like it was his best shot. I knew he would hang. He’s a world-class fighter. He’s tougher than a steak that’s been well done.’’

What’s next for Broner? He’s setting his sights on becoming a Pay Per View star by the end of 2013.
