The Newton, Connecticut police have announced that 27 people were killed, 20 of them children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The shooter has been reported as Adam Lanza, 20. Lanza’s mother, Nancy, a kindergarten teacher at the school was reportedly shot in the face by Lanza at the home he shared with her before he drove to the school with 2 handguns and a semi-automatic rifle and reportedly opened fire on two classrooms of children. The school principal, Dawn Hochsprung was killed when she placed her body against a door to keep the gunman from entering because there was no lock on the door and school psychologist  Diane Day was also killed. Lanza turned the gun on himself and took his own life, and while police reportedly have determined that the guns used in the melee were registered to his mother Nancy. A relative of the Lanza family told ABC News that Adam was “obviously not well.”
