Adam Maguire, 28, has been charged with two counts of domestic violence assault along with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reports the Bangor Daily News. Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin told the paper that Maguire burned the children, on the back and neck, “in an attempt to show them pain compliance while meditating.” According to the Associated Press, Maguire was allegedly attempting to help the children cope with ADHD symptoms. His girlfriend said the children were told that when you clear your mind, your pain diminishes. The names and ages of both children are being withheld, and the children have been remanded to the care of relatives.
