The mayor of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Danny Hill, has resigned his post after being arrested for allegedly selling marijuana in the parking lot near an elementary school. According to the Journal Times, Sparks had been under investigation for weeks before the arrest was made. Wednesday night, Sparks allegedly sold an unspecified amount of marijuana to an undercover police officer, and was arrested and taken into custody. He was charged with trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, which is a felony in Kentucky. There was also an open container of alcohol in Sparks’ car, police report. In a statement sent to the Journal Times, Sparks said he was accused of something “he had never done before.”
