Dennis Lehane Joins Writing Staff of Boardwalk Empire

The author of “Mystic River,” “Gone, Baby, Gone,” and “Shutter Island” has signed on to be a writer and creative consultant for the fourth season of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. He will consult with show runner Terrence Winter of The Sopranos fame to map out the outline for Season 4, and Lehane said he will be responsible for writing the script for at least one episode, according to The Herald.

“My guess is that someone at HBO read ‘Live By Night’ and thought it would be a good fit,” Lehane said “I’m a huge fan of the show so it worked out nicely.”

Lehane’s newest book, debuted at No. 8 on The New York Times bestseller list last month, the book weaves the tale of rum-running from Cuba to Florida & Boston. Live By Night is currently in development as a feature film at Warner Bros. as a potential starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio.
