One day after melting down in the courtroom, St. John’s so-called “Dean of Mean” Cecilia Chang, was found hung in her Jamaica Estates home, of an apparent suicide. Chang, a 30-year administrator at St. John’s was on trial for allegedly embezzling $1 million from the school and for using foreign students as her personal indentured servants. A member of Chang’s defense team arrived this morning to pick her up for court, and received no response. The driver smelled gas and contacted authorities who entered Chang’s home and found her body. Chang had apparently attempted to kill herself twice before the hanging, with the first attempt being to slit her wrists, and then to asphyxiate herself with gas from her fireplace, when those did not work, she allegedly hung herself.
