The Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Health (CATCH) program which has been operating out of at least 13 New York City high schools, have given birth-control medication to students without first obtaining parental approval, writes the New York Post. Although condoms have been available to students in the past, this appears to be the first time Plan B and similar morning-after drugs have been made available to students through their schools, according to the Post. Students younger than 18 have access to prescriptions for the Plan B medication after an initial visit to their school nurse, with the prescriptions written by doctors employed with the city health department.
