Quite possibly one of the greatest fights in UFC history occurred in Toronto tonight as headliner champ Jon Jones successfully defended his belt against contender Alexander Gustafsson in a close and controversial fight at UFC 165. It was a battle barely inched by from the champion Jones as the ‘Swede’ poured the upper cuts and fast punches on the champ swelling his beaten up face. This goes to tell you how much of a WAR occurred tonight though, neither fighter was able to make it to the post-fight conference as both fighters reportedly hitched a ride straight to the hospital to get checked out.
The loss ended a hot streak for Gustafsson, as he had won six consecutive fights following a loss to Phil Davis at UFC 112 in 2010. The Davis loss was the only blemish on his record until Saturday night.
