Director Fede Alvarez: From ‘Evil Dead’ To ‘Dante’s Inferno’ Film

fede-alvarezDirector Fede Alvarez of “Evil Dead” will make “Dante’s Inferno” but it is not a film based on the classic poem by Dante Alighieri. It is based on the electronic arts games that have the same name with Universal Pictures set to distribute it. Released in 2010, Dante’s Inferno re-imagines Alighieri as a Templar Knight traversing the nine circles of Hell to rescue the soul of his beloved Beatrice. Although the plot of the game represents a significant departure from the original text, the specific layout of Hell is directly inspired by Alighieri’s words.

Jay Basu is set to pen the latest draft the writer of the most recent draft of the script with Band of Brothers writer Bruce McKenna writing the previous one. Due to the purchasing rights issues, it will take three more years for the film to finally get the film shot. So don’t be expecting a 2014 Dante’s Inferno, there’s levels to this stuff.
