The UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has nerves of steel to pick a bone with the boxing champ and legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. Now this is what the pound for pound greatest had to say in an interview on Sway in the Morning.
“Boxers have the great story. I respect for boxing. Floyd Mayweather? I don’t know this guy. Is he Papa Smurf? Mayweather is good boxing. This is my opinion. The guy no respect me. I respect all the guys in the world. Mayweather is a part of this story in the world. I’m part of the sport in the world. Mayweather need to respect this, but this guy no respect nothing. Sorry, but I no respect Mayweather.”
These lines were a response of Silva to Mayweather’s statement in an interview with EsNews last month. The boxing legend pointed out that he didn’t know “The Spider” in spite of the fact that Silva is still considered as the greatest MMA fighter of all time having won amazing 17 straight bouts, 16 of which occurred inside the Octagon.
Silva is also setting the UFC middleweight record of 10 consecutive successful title defenses and who looks to avenge his loss with a rematch at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 28.
Meanwhile, Mayweather is a five-division world champion with an incredible 44-0 professional record. His next boxing opponent will be the light middleweight star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, who boasts a brilliant 42-0-1 record. Mayweather is already 36 years old while Alvarez is only 23.
