GEORGES St-Pierre is public enemy number one and the man who wants his head on the platter is in the best shape of his life following a slight scare after a grueling fisticuff in Montreal last Saturday.
Johnny Hendricks thought that he might have injured his hand during his co-headlining battle with ex-UFC interim king Carlos Condit at UFC 158.
Right after the bout, Hendricks quipped that he might visit the doctor to have his hand checked but he added that nothing will prevent him from his top mission and long-time dream: to snatch the UFC belt away from St-Pierre and be declared the new welterweight king later this year.
On Monday the #1 contender tweeted
“Update on my hand: it was feeling so much better today I decided not to go to the doc, Recovery going good.”
It’s understandable for Hendricks to have such lofty dreams of unseating GSP from his throne, but then he will have to work his butt off double time in order for him to achieve that goal. Yes, he has some serious power in both hands, but GSP is a different kind of beast.
A Hendricks-St-Pierre fight must happen, and UFC President Dana White is eyeing a date for the shot as early as August! We’ll keep you posted on the update.
