Iconic board company Santa Cruz Skateboards claimed six months ago fashion designer Jeremy Scott blatantly ripped off their designs, originally created by artist Jim Phillips. Scott has agreed not to produce or distribute any of the offending items. Here’s an official statement from the fashion designer of the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection:
“I regret that certain pieces of my February 2013 Fall Winter fashion line incorporated imagery that was similar to images owned by NHS and Messrs. Phillips. I now recognize my mistake and out of respect to their work and their rights, the clothing and handbags at issue will not be produced or distributed.”
Well as for the CEO of Santa Cruz skateboards mother company NHS Inc. Bob Denike, he said that he do not believe in the idea that any publicity is good publicity and they do not need such type of campaign to grow their brand. In addition, Denike said that it has been quite damaging for them and they don’t like to be associated with Scott.
