LAX TSA Screeners Arrested in Trafficking Probe.

Earlier today, two former and two current Transportation Security Administration employees were charged with allegedly allowing large amounts of cocaine and other drugs to pass through X-ray machines at security checkpoints in exchange for cash, reported authorities.

U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. said “The allegations in this case describe a significant breakdown of the screening system through the conduct of individuals who placed greed above the nation’s security needs”.

Drug conspiracy and bribery charges were listed in the indictment and at least five incidents were outlined where the employees took cash payments of up to $2,400 to provide drug couriers easy access to Los Angeles International Airport over a six-month period in 2011.  If convicted, the charges carry a minimum of 10 years for each in federal prison.
