This past weekend I found myself in a midnight screening of a true American classic 2003’s The Room a film which is literally SOOO bad at being good, it seems intended. It’s more fun to scream at a screen ‘How’s The Cancer Treatment?’ when character Lisa’s mother walks through the hardly ever shut front door. A film produced by actors Greg Sestero and Tommy Wiseau co-wrote and starred, it has since been playing sold out midnight showings, since its release. Supporting star Greg Sestero and journalist Tom Bissell published the page turner The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, by Simon & Schuster which covers the pupil-mentor relationship between Greg and Tommy.
With much admiration for the project James Franco will star, direct and co-produce the book adaptation with his Rabbit Bandini partner Vince Jolivette, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Productions. Ryan Moody is writing the script. To truly grasp how ‘fun’ the film is press play on a clip below. When this film hits cinemas, I will be the first in line to say ‘Oh HAI Mark!’
