Lupe Fiasco Thrown Off Stage at Inaugural Concert.

Lupe Fiasco, booked as the headliner for the StartUp RockOn concert in celebration of Obama’s reelection, revealed to the crowd that he had a different agenda other than the one he was hired to promote. Fiasco, the 30-year-old rapper from Chicago, apparently had no plans to celebrate Obama’s second-term Sunday night and proceeded to bash the POTUS during the inaugural event. While on stage performing at The Hamilton in Washington, Fiasco announced that he didn’t vote for Obama in the 2012 election and proceeded to perform an anti-war song for more than 30 minutes, was then told to move on and when he refused to change songs, security was then dispatched and Fiasco was removed from the stage. It really is a conundrum as to why Fiasco was chosen to perform at the POTUS’ celebration, being that Fiasco has criticized Obama in the past, as in the article he did while doing press for his album last summer when he called Obama a ‘child-killer’ in Complex magazine. Hypervocal, which co-founded StartUp RockOn later released an official statement regarding the incident, saying Fiasco was not kicked off stage for his anti-Obama rant.

“This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”
