Cure for Hiccups Fatal

An Army soldier who allegedly attempted to help his friend get rid of a case of hiccups as they watched football on Sunday night, now faces a manslaughter charge for killing him. According to the Killeen Daily Herald, 22-year-old Pfc. Isaac Lawrence Young was hiccuping during the game and fellow soldier Spc. Patrick Edward Myers, 27, in an attempt to scare him to make the hiccups go away allegedly pointed a gun at Young’s face and pulled the trigger. The Herald said Myers told police he thought the gun was loaded with dummy rounds. Young, a motor transport operator was struck in the eye and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Police said the men had been drinking alcohol before the shooting. Both men were stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
