Teachers End Chicago Strike

Almost 350,000 kids will return to the classroom in Chicago today, due to the ending of the Chicago’s teachers weeklong strike, while also securing what should be a double-digit salary increase over the next three years. Union President Karen Lewis said that the teachers had struck down merit pay and a new evaluation system. Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel did not give in to the request for a 30 percent base salary bump, and he lengthened the school day.
