Columbian President Juan Manuel Santos has revealed that the notorious drug kingpin known as Daniel “El Loco” Barrera was been captured earlier this week. Barrera has reportedly been trafficking drugs for more than 20 years, and is reputed to have smuggled 100 tons of cocaine to U.S. and European markets in recent years. “El Loco” or “Crazy Loco” as he’s been known, has been one of the most wanted kingpins in recent times, and President Santos said that “he has dedicated 20 years to doing bad things to Colombia and the world, all types of crime, perverse alliances with paramilitaries, with the (rebel group) FARC.” The operation that finally captured “El Loco” was directed from Washington and involved U.S., British, Colombian, and Venezuelan officials who made the arrest. Reuter’s wire service stated that Barrera had a $5 million bounty on his head from the United States and $2.7 million from the Colombian government.
