There is NO sophomore slum with Irish band Two Door Cinema Club (We’ll call them TDCC for short) the band puts their foot on your neck, and don’t let up with their sophomore album Beacon! The first five tracks open very high pace, and hits the ground running with Next Year, where lead singer Alex Trimble solemnly sings.
Cause I don’t know what to say
Another day
Another excuse to be sent your way
Another day
Another year
Stand out track on the album and track the group teased fans with for months was Handshake a vibrant, pulsating track Alex sings over the synths and guitar riffs.
She said the devil will want you back
And you’ll never find love in another man
Shut your eyes, so you’ll see young girl
And know you’ll always have this if it’s needed back
The album slows down around the mid point which is Sleep Alone, the second half of the album with tracks that lul you into melody heaven with tracks like The World Is Watching (With Valentina), Spring and final track and also title of the album Beacon probably the most feel good track, nicely closes out this album. If you loved their debut album Tourist History, you’ll find it easy to replay this solid body of work from TDCC.
The album can be listened in it’s entirety below, and can be PRE-ORDERED HERE.
