Tony Scott 1944 – 2012 [FAUX SOCIETY EDITORIAL.]

August 19th, 2012, marked the loss of one of the greatest filmmakers of this generation or any other, with the passing of Tony Scott. We’re not going to talk about his death, instead, we’ll remember his life and the great body of work he left behind. I personally took the death of Mr. Scott very hard, him being a man that I have admired for years, and I always looked at his work and work ethic, to set the bar high with each and every endeavor. The film crafted by Mr. Scott  which had an extremely profound affect on my life has to be “The Last Boy Scouts.” As a child I used to watch the first 10 minutes of the film, which sets the film in motion, as Billy Blanks took the sport of football to the next level.  (Clip Below)

Aint Life A Bitch!

It’s a line that my brother and I have exchanged many times. One of the great things that Tony’s films did for us all, was to put you in a world, where rules don’t matter, where people are anarchists, and if they say “I’m going to shoot you in the head!” then best believe that your head will soon have a hole in it. He was a filmmakers filmmaker, changing the look of action films. Raising the bar; whether it be with quick cuts, or to the way  he changed the standard of colorization in action films, as he so brilliantly did with the stunning Man on Fire with Denzel Washington. And lest not forget, the brilliantly underrated Domino. I feel deeply for his brother Ripley Scott, and the Scott family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. And also, to the thousands and thousands of people who Tony personally touched working with on the many sets of his films. This day in film will be remembered, Tony is remembered, and my heart goes out to my idols’ family.
