Tonight, the Miami Heat played a calm, cool, and collected game of basketball. And the pay-off at the end of the fourth quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder, in Game 5 of the Championship Series, was the Heat’s proof to the world, and mostly to themselves, that they truly were the NBA’s best. The Miami Heat have been the team that has been ridiculed and doubted, loved and hated, held up and let down. But tonight, after blowing away the Thunder, 121-106 in Miami, the Heat tasted the sweetness of victory, after tasting the bitterness last year, on the very floor where they were humbled by the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron James himself, had a triple double night, 26 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists- and a promise that he made to the fans of Miami… and he kept. The promise if an NBA Championship for the city. James stated the one thing that hurt him the most last year as the public found fault with “The Decision” was, “that I was selfish… Last year I tried to prove something to everybody. I played with a lot of hate. That’s not the way I play the game of basketball.” It just goes to show you, tweak your train of thought, and you can surely change any outcome.
