Arctic Monkeys. – Coachella Review

Arctic Monkeys hit the scene opening with Brianstorm, a tired Mr. Turner belted out the lyrics.

And I wonder are you puttin’ us under
Cause we can’t take our eyes off the t-shirt and ties combination
Well see you later, innovator

The reaction from the crowd was subdued at first, Alex took notice yelling. “Come on guys, we couldn’t wait to come back to Coachella, and rock with you people. We’ve wanted to come back since the last time we came.” That led into a throwback track from their first album Rock N’ Roll classic, Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not. They went into “View from the afternoon, the crowd went bananas.

They then transitioned into the first song I ever heard from the Arctic Monkeys, I bet that you look good on the dance floor. The crowd is in it for the win now, they played a few tracks off of “Suck it and see” their newest effort.

The Arctic Monkeys played 2 tracks  their second album “Favourite Worst Nightmare” (and my personal favorite from them)

-Teddy Picker

-Fluorescent Adolescent

Most of the crowd knew the songs, and were into the performance, as Alex joked with the crowd at times. He yelled things like “C’mon this fucking song here, is going to sit you on your ass!”

They sadly ended their set with their new one off “R U Mine?” which has been getting mad spins in the radio world. It’s a pretty solid single, reminiscnet of the hunger we all heard on their demo LP, before they got signed. It was a solid set, from a guy who has personally seen the Arctic Monkey 5 times live. They are amazing live, they sound just like the recorded record, that’s their niche and they’ve honed it well.
