Metal Gear Solid [GAME + MOVIE UPDATES.]

Earlier today, while celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Kojima Productions and Konami revealed a new game in the series titled “Ground Zeroes” and announced a film currently in the works. During the announcements, viewers on hand were immediately previewed to a 20 minute demo of the game that showed off the introduction of open-word (a first for the franchise) featuring Solid Snake as well as a taste of the Fox Engine showcased in the game. The Fox Engine’s been in development for over 4 years since the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PlayStation 3.

The game was shown running at PC specs equivalent to current gen. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hardware. The attendees in the audience were mind-blown by the spontaneous announcement and all left smiling. Hopefully we’ll be smiling soon when Mr. Hideo Kojima decides to release the sandbox game-play footage to the masses. There hasn’t been an release date but with the next generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles looming for the fall 2014 season, we hope play Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes before that time.

A Metal Gear movie is also in the works to be distributed by Columbia Pictures and will be produced by Marvel movie legend, Avi Arad. There hasn’t been any more information leaked like who’ll be staring in it (hopefully the not usual, Mark Wahlberg smh) or the target year; but I wouldn’t expect to see this movie for a while.
